Serena's Reminiscence
Once, this land, Axion, was a vast ocean. It was a beautiful place, where the sea divided the sky and earth, where the sun met the waves and its reflected light scattered in an explosion of gold. And then, the Apocalypse changed everything.
Invaders known as the Vulgus arrived from beyond our dimension. The Colossi appeared to unleash transcendental terror upon humanity. A countless number of my comrades fell at their hands... To others, they would merely be numbers in a historical tome, but to me... the memories are as vivid as if they happened yesterday.
With the advent of the invaders, tumultuous changes assailed every part of our world. Sudden violent storms dried up abundant soil and the sea that teemed with life, shriveled and dried. That is how Axion became what it is today.
After all these years, no human remembers what it once looked like. But I... live in a different time. When I am assaulted with such thoughts, I feel... lonely.
Perhaps there are others who have been asleep for as long as I, since I was not kept alone in those Receptors. At times, I am hopeful that maybe... just maybe, he, too, may still live. That minuscule hope may be what sustains me through this long crusade.
